Raise the Red Lantern Video Clip!

Raise the Red Lantern

Wow! Like science-fiction films that take your full attention to the end.
Being rich has not been easy on the fourth wife, though at first she appeared to be in control or try to be. Guess what, was not strong enough to survive the situtation in a master's castle of four wives total. An educated women went mad after she tried to teach the ladies how to be in control, lost her thinking, and could not take the pressure of living and socializing with the crue of mistresses.
One of the most disturbing films of the 1990s, too much real for the Real World, but worth to watch, it moves people's minds into fear, worry, and fascination!

Horror in Pakistan!

Hello Everyone,

I thought I would share this horrible story that took place in Pakistan today. Since we are learning about the Reel World, one of the historical topics through the years are the Real World Headlines of leaders assisination which is something always common in these types of governments.

RAWALPINDI, Pakistan - Pakistan opposition leader Benazir Bhutto was assassinated Thursday by an attacker who shot her after a campaign rally and then blew himself up. Her death stoked new chaos across the nuclear-armed nation, an important U.S. ally in the war on terrorism.
At least 20 others were killed in the attack on the election rally where the 54-year-old former prime minister had just spoken.
Angry supporters rioted in the southern port city of Karachi after her killing, firing shots at police, setting tires and cars on fire and burning a gas station. One person was killed north of Karachi in the violent aftermath of the assassination. "

Down to Earth Film!

Before I start saying which reviewer I agree with, I would like to add that Earth is powerful film, it represents not just the Ethnic Tension theme that went in India in 1947, but also religious tensions that still face the world today. This is becoming a serious issue worldwide which is very essential to realize and read about, or watch real situations about it that is taking place everywhere in the world recently.

After reading Earth reviews, I agree with Zaminae Ansari's review more since it talks about the partition of India after the pullout of British Colonization. She gave Deepa Mehta a credit for "bringing the screen and putting the reality all together". Ansari helped people learn clearly about the struggles of Indians politically, ethnically, and economically. Shanta and Hassan were an example of many ethnical romances struggles in different part of the world, and it is still carries on until today.

Something to add: Indian songs are one of my favorite music to listen to. I feel that there is always rythmic tunes that attract people to listen to.

Protection of Indian Rhino!

Greetings,

Take a look at the Indian Rhino situation, I thought a new science connection to Unit 3: India would be interesting! Enjoy it.

LAMERICA REVIEW

LAMERICA was the first movie I picked since I felt it was the right movie to watch. My interpretation of it is that it is "a boldly chilling portrait of post communist Europe in moral eclipe". I was impressed with with the universal message that scheming in poor country with no dignity to fulfill the dream of a better life.

Here is LamericaReviewed by Keith PhippsMarch 29th, 2002

Despite its status as an easy punchline for Wag The Dog, Albania is a real place with real troubles, many of which exemplify the prevailing political problems of the post-Cold War era. Set in 1991, following the fall of Communism, Gianni Amelio's (Stolen Children, Open Doors) Lamerica takes a look at Albania from an outsider's perspective: The film follows an ambitious Italian shoe executive (Enrico Lo Verso) who seeks to take advantage of the Albanian economic crisis by promoting an anti-Communist political prisoner (Carmelo Di Mazzarelli) to the position of chairman. Mazzarelli, an addled Italian army veteran who was never told that World War II ended—he fully expects to return home to his wife and young child in Sicily—spoils the plan by running off, leading Verso on a journey that forces him to question the capitalist system he believes will make him his fortune. As much a personal drama as a political one, Lamerica is made even more effective by its stunning use of Cinemascope, preserved to a certain extent through letterboxing. Even on the small screen, it's an extremely effective piece of filmmaking: Bizarre touches, such as a little girl expertly mimicking the dance moves she's learned from Italian television, help drive home the film's points, as do a pair of deft performances by Lamerica's two leads.

Greetings!
