RWANDA HOTEL

GENOCIDE from Rwanda,

After watching Rwanda Hotel, some scenes were horrified, it was a feeling that I wished there was more assistance from the international community instead of leaving more innocent people to die. The UN should have helped bringing more soldiers to keep the Tutsi people alive and safe. The massacre in Rwanda were horrifying. Philip Gourevitch, a writer for the New Yorker, spent time in the areas of Rwanda where awful massacres took place in the early 1990s.

The title of the book comes from a message sent out by a besieged community, which of course was not answered from the outside source and soon came true.

The author's reform of events, and his portrayal of the consequences and remains, is horrendous and convincing. Almost as dreadful but informative in his description of how badly and even productively the relief efforts were managed. It is an appalling and enormously important book. It is powerful that consists in the capability to make others reside in a story of a reality in place, even if you have to slaughter a lot of people to create as it is occurring.

It is impractical to accomplish a complete righteousness following genocide; nevertheless, Rwanda featured the old torture in a new civilization.
How can people who have endured so fatally managed to live to tell history?
Amazing survival!

Paradise Now, An Unforgetable Legend!

Paradise Now!
The Story of Young Palestinians with a Dangerous Truth!

‘Paradise Now has been nominated "best foreign language film" for the 78th Annual Academy Awards -- better known as the Oscars. The film was directed by Palestinian Hany Abu-Assad from a screenplay he co-wrote with Bero Beyer, the film's Dutch producer. Paradise Now chronicles the 48 hours before two best friends in Nablus are sent on a suicide mission to Israel. The New York Times said: “it accomplishes the tricky feat of humanizing the suicide bombers depicted in the film.”
I agree with the counter petition to have the film nominated since this is the first Academy Award nomination for Palestine. Three years ago, it was the first time a Palestinian film entered the Oscars race for best foreign film. Elia Suleiman's Divine Intervention, acclaimed at the Cannes Film Festival, where it won the international critics' prize, could have been a nominee for the Oscars. At first Hollywood's Academy of Motion Pictures rejected to accept the film as a contestant for the best foreign-language film because the Academy believed that Palestine was not recognized as a nation.’

Eventhough the Film represent a desperate mission to accomplish a political right, I do not agree with the type of violence that is taking place in the region. The situation is totally understandable; however, I do agree with Suha’s point of view that there should be other ways to solve the conflicts. I see nonviolent individuals when it comes to being a Martyr, like Ghandi, a great example of peaceful martyr who struggled for the independence of India. His teachings are followed and respected in History. I think the Israelis and Palestinians had enough bloodshed. Let’s hope the world find quick solutions that fit both interests of minds, and place the conflicts to rest.

"THE DAY IBECAME A WOMEN"

A LIFE OF THREE AGES OF WOMEN

ENJOY A PHOTO GALLERY OF THE FILM:
What a disturbing interpretation of the role of Iranian women, the director Marziyeh Meshkini exposes an thrilling new tone in Iranian films. The typeset of scripts, written by Meshkini's husband, the skilled filmmaker Mohsen Makhmalbaf (Gabbeh, The Peddler), enlighten several stories that takes place in Iran of three ages of women struggling to live in freedom.

1)The first women, is about Hava, who one the morning of her ninth birthday, is told that she is now a woman. She must wear a chador and may no longer join together in a playtime with her male friend. Hava seemed to be upset and shared a candy with her friend in a hush-hush Rendez-Vous.

2) In the most significant scene, Ahoo, a young wife, is competing in a bicycle race against dozens of other chador-clad women on a hot dusty road. As she pulls ahead of the field, her husband pursues her on horseback to take her out of the race and no film chase has ever been more heart-wrenching.

3) A third woman is an old, handicapped lady who struggle to read and find a house to live in with empathy.

Meshkini scans a society where women are still the possessions of men and cannot achieve freedom, liberty, and self-determination without relinquishing emotional, touching attachments. Feeling sorry for these women is enough to understand the situation. Women struggles have been around this globe for a long time. Still until today, in some places of the world women are treated as slaves, hope the situation changes in this part of the world, and women get the independence they deserve.
An excellent Film director knew exactly what he was doing. It is a great film to watch and learn from!

Raise the Red Lantern Video Clip!

Raise the Red Lantern

Wow! Like science-fiction films that take your full attention to the end.
Being rich has not been easy on the fourth wife, though at first she appeared to be in control or try to be. Guess what, was not strong enough to survive the situtation in a master's castle of four wives total. An educated women went mad after she tried to teach the ladies how to be in control, lost her thinking, and could not take the pressure of living and socializing with the crue of mistresses.
One of the most disturbing films of the 1990s, too much real for the Real World, but worth to watch, it moves people's minds into fear, worry, and fascination!

At least 20 others were killed in the attack on the election rally where the 54-year-old former prime minister had just spoken.

Down to Earth Film!

Before I start saying which reviewer I agree with, I would like to add that Earth is powerful film, it represents not just the Ethnic Tension theme that went in India in 1947, but also religious tensions that still face the world today. This is becoming a serious issue worldwide which is very essential to realize and read about, or watch real situations about it that is taking place everywhere in the world recently.

After reading Earth reviews, I agree with Zaminae Ansari's review more since it talks about the partition of India after the pullout of British Colonization. She gave Deepa Mehta a credit for "bringing the screen and putting the reality all together". Ansari helped people learn clearly about the struggles of Indians politically, ethnically, and economically. Shanta and Hassan were an example of many ethnical romances struggles in different part of the world, and it is still carries on until today.

Something to add: Indian songs are one of my favorite music to listen to. I feel that there is always rythmic tunes that attract people to listen to.

Protection of Indian Rhino!
